The Disappearance of Dannette and Jeannette Millbrook, Augusta GA, 1990
Dannette and Jeannette Millbrook were just 15 years old when they vanished from Augusta, Georgia, on March 18, 1990. That afternoon, the twins walked through their neighborhood, visited family, grabbed lunch, stopped at a gas station for snacks, and never came home.
They were last seen around 4:30 p.m. at the Pump-N-Shop on 12th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. A store clerk who knew them personally recalled ringing them up. Minutes later, they were gone.
The girls had mentioned feeling uneasy earlier in the day. They told their mom a white van was following them after lunch. But when she looked outside, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. No one thought it would be the last time they’d see them.
The investigation that followed was thin. Their disappearance was labeled a runaway case almost immediately. Their godfather was interviewed, but other relatives who saw the girls that day, like their cousin and older sister, were never contacted. Reports of a suspicious vehicle were never followed up on. Their father, who lived nearby and had a troubled history, was never questioned.
Eventually, the case was closed. Their names were removed from national databases. The original file was reportedly lost.
Dannette and Jeannette were not runaways. They were teenagers who left the house together in broad daylight and never made it home. Their family never stopped asking questions. And more than three decades later, they’re still waiting for answers.
Dannette and Jeannette Millbrook were last seen on March 18, 1990. Foul play is suspected.
