The Disappearance of Davinia Ann Sterling , Jacksonville, Florida (2010)
Davinia Ann Sterling was just 31 years old when she vanished without a trace. It was a quiet afternoon in late January 2010 when she checked out of a hotel room in Jacksonville’s Arlington area. No one has seen or heard from her since.
Davinia was born on August 11, 1978, and spent most of her life in Jacksonville, Florida. Those closest to her called her “Dee” or “Vinia.” She was a mother of three, her children were everything to her. Despite life’s challenges, she stayed connected to her family and was known for keeping in regular contact.
In the days leading up to her disappearance, Davinia had been staying with her boyfriend, Jonathan Reed, at the Regency Inn on Arlington Expressway. The two were staying in Room 228. It’s unclear how long they had been there, but on January 27, 2010, Davinia checked out. That was the last confirmed moment anyone saw her.
A week passed with no word,no phone calls, no messages, and her family began to worry. It wasn’t like her to go this long without contacting her children. On February 2, 2010, they reported her missing.
Jonathan Reed, the man she was last seen with, was also unreachable at first. Investigators eventually located him out of state,in Texas, where he had been arrested on unrelated warrants. It’s still unknown if he had any ties to Texas before that or if he left Florida after Davinia disappeared.
When questioned, Reed claimed that he and Davinia had gotten into an argument at the hotel, and that she “ran off.” He said he hadn’t seen her since. Despite being the last known person to see her, Reed has never been named a person of interest. No charges have ever been filed in connection with Davinia’s disappearance, and no surveillance footage from that day has ever been released.
More than 15 years have passed. Davinia’s name is listed in national databases like NamUs, the Black & Missing Foundation, and First Coast Crime Stoppers. But no activity has ever shown up on her accounts, and no reliable sightings have come in.
Her case remains unsolved. A mother of three vanished from a motel room in Jacksonville, and no one has seen her since.
